Quick blog prompt

Had another long, hard day at work today, so just popping on to deliver my answer to today's UKS blog prompt.

I haven't done this since it started really, partly because I've forgotten about and partly because the prompts haven't really struck a chord with me. But today's did. Here it is:

Q: Are you a scrapbook evangelist? Do you want to convert your non-scrapper friends/families into scrapbookers? Do you try to find friends that scrapbook? If so, how? Do you show your pages to anyone who doesn't scrapbook?

A: I would love to convert my friends into scrappers, but sadly none of my close friends are particularly into crafts, except one who lives hundreds of miles away and I don't see her too often. Although I have made some new friends too through scrapping, which is great and I look forward to my monthly crop to chat to them all and share ideas and inspiration. I do try to encourage those who are new to scrapbooking too through UKS and if I can help anyone get started then I will.
I do show my pages to people who don't scrapbook, although usually only family members as they're most interested in my work and particularly of the photographs I have scrapped, like my son or hubby. I do occasionally show the odd friend if I'm particularly pleased with a layout, but I wouldn't show my work to my colleagues, they just wouldn't be interested!

Now all I need to do is find Colin's wife! LOL! Where are you girl?!

Tattie bye! :)

Parcels everywhere!

Been very busy at work today while I'm covering the newsdesk again, but it was lovely to come home to a handful of parcels full of gorgeous ribbons. They are from the participants of my UKS hot and cold ribbon swap, which (touch wood!) seems to be going well so far. Just got to get mine on Friday, although I'm waiting to see what everyone else decides on first so I can buy something different. I also received my Clean and Simple books at long last, although I'm still waiting for one more book that has been delayed for what seems like forever, and I've received confirmation that my sale orders of lush patterned papers are on their way - yippee!

Now all I need is some time to read the ideas books and use all this lovely stash - anyone got any they can spare please?!

Bye for now :)

Hi ho, hi ho, it's back to work I go!

Don't know why the title is so chirpy as I'm almost dreading going back to work after my week off. I'm on newsdesk again, but for two weeks this time, and now I know what hard work it is I'm not overly enthusiastic! I must keep telling myself that it is great experience for me and hope I'll be getting the temporary pay increase for it this time (fingers crossed please, I so need the extra cash!)

The new kitchen is coming along well, too fast actually as we are having it fitted in just three weeks! That means we have only 21 days (or just over) to strip the walls and plaster any patches, all that while I'll be working late nights. I have no idea how I'm going to fit it all in. I don't think I'll be doing any scrapping for a little while, other than my CJs and design team challenge of course.

Luckily I did get a bit of scrapping done this week - this one I did at the Leeds crop yesterday and finished with a little machine stitching today.

It's of my ds and niece playing in our garden and exploring a new outdoor toy. Harry must have been down the slide 100 times already, but as he can't quite climb the stairs by himself yet this does get rather tiring!

Ah well, I better go get a bath, lay out my clothes for tomorrow and get some sleep ready for a mad day ahead.

Bye for now :)

Yikes!

I hadn't realised I hadn't updated my blog in more than a week! The time has flown. Our wedding anniversary party went really well, we got to see our good friends and the weather stayed mainly fine.

And then it was back to work for another two mad days before my week off this week. I'm really enjoying it so far. My husband is back at work and our son is back at nursery, so I'm enjoying a bit of 'me' time at last! Yesterday I finally got some scrapping done and completed the two LOs below. The first was my own design, although it's turned out looking like my usual simple-ish style, which I'm trying to get out of a bit (hurry up Amazon with my new scrapbooking books!) and the second is a class from the UKS Mardis Gras cyber crop by Debbie70 and absolutely lovely.

I've also been doing a bit of shopping, or should I say window shopping for lovely new accessories for our lovely new kitchen, which I have found and am going to order tomorrow. I can't wait for it to be done, although I'm sure it will be a major headache before it's finished to perfection! It was one of the first we saw and I knew I wanted it exactly like in the showroom, so that's what we are getting, within our budget too :)

So I have two days left to myself and plenty to do. I'm meeting a friend for coffee tomorrow and so Harry and her daughter can play together, then it's out to order the kitchen, and then I need to get back and start giving the living room a lick of paint. Then Thursday I need to fly over to Sheffield to pick some albums up from a fellow UKSer who kindly picked some up for me in her local Costco. It's going to work out cheaper to collect them than pay for postage, and I get to check out where I went to college more than five years ago and see how much it has changed. And somewhere in between all that I have to finish decorating my Robox, again. All the paint is chipping off really easily, so I've decided to cover it all in a lovely light card in shiny turquoise. The bottom half wasn't too tricky to do but the top half is not going to be fun!

Oh well, Lost is on in five minutes so I'll say night night. Catch you all soon :)
