just wanted to return with news of my Lauriel second attempt. Well. Third actually as the second time I tried to knit the yoke pattern it still didn't look right. So my lovely friends Hannah and Jenny came to the rescue with an emergency knitting meet-up and set me straight. It turned out I should have been cabling every few rows, and I had just simply been knitting the stitches in brackets. Next time I will read the instructions better!
So, now I'm well on my way again and it's taking shape. And best of all, the yoke section is finally perfect, yay!
See? A million times better! Thank you everyone for all the encouragement to rip it out and start over - I needed that push and I'm so glad that I did it now as I'm finally happy with it :)
Also, thank you for the birthday wishes yesterday, I had a brilliant day. I had a yummy cooked breakfast served with cards and gifts, followed by shopping (for gorgeous new shoes no less!), followed by bowling - and yay, I won this time!
Then the day was rounded up perfectly by a lovely family meal with both parents, their partners, one of my sisters and my boys too.
And then I got sang to and served cake (oh the shame!). Here I am with my shameful cake lol!
Best go get ready for work - late shift AGAIN. Groan. Back soon!
xXx

I'm glad your Lauriel is now looking perfect, you must be relieved! I'm terrible for not reading instructions properly, and ending up with something not quite what I was expecting (but I'm usually too lazy to rip it back out again!)
It looks great, it was worth starting again :)
The cardigan is looking gorgeous, this pattern is on my must knit list!
WOW it looks fantastic.
Happy Birthday! You had a really awesome day.
Yay! Congrats to getting your cardi right!

That yoke is so beautiful now! I'm so glad it was worth it. Now just enjoy that lovely, lovely yarn! =)
Happy late birthday! It looks like you had a great day. I would need that bowling contraption to get those scores...I am a TERRIBLE bowler! =)
Your Lauriel does look perfect now, and it seems to have taken you no time at all to rip and reknit! Of course that first practice run probably helped :)
That's so pretty. I might have to add that to my looooong list of things to make.
Beautiful stitching. I'm glad you're tackling this project again.
Happy Belated Birthday!!!!
Yes, happy belated - and awesome work so far! Ripping out and starting over is always tough for me, too, especially when I'm halfway or more through. But making it the way you want rather than finishing and being unsatisfied is always better. Congrats on the bowling, and the little guy is just adorable!
Glad you had a lovely birthday :) and that Lauriel is finally working out for you! I agree that it was worth the work xx
I'm glad you started over and are happier with it. It looks great.
Belated Happy Birthday.
